Licensing Your Dog

New York State requires all dogs over (4) four months of age to be licensed for a fee of $14.50. The fee is reduced to $6.50 if your dog is spayed or neutered. The fees paid by senior citizens aged 65 or over are $12.00 per dog, or $4.00 for a dog that has been spayed or neutered. Resident must submit a copy of the rabies vaccination certificate and spaying or neutering certificate, if applicable, with appropriate fee to the Town Clerk's office.  

All dogs are assigned, as licensed, a municipal identification number and tag. This ID tag must always be affixed to that dog’s collar. Dogs must always be identified when off the owner’s premises.  Failure to license your dog could result in a summons or fine.

Vaccinating Your Dog Against Rabies

State law requires that all dogs be vaccinated annually against rabies. Dog License Renewal

You can mail your renewal documents along with your payment.  For your convenience, you can renew online by visiting our secure online payment portal.  

You may renew & pay for your dog license(s) online by using your MasterCard, Visa or Discover credit card (2.45% convenience fee will apply for credit card transactions). You may also pay via Electronic Check ($1.75 convenience fee applies). Convenience and flat fees are collected by the web service provider, not by the Town of Granby. Every precaution has been taken to ensure that your online transactions are safe and secure.

Most people fishing in New York need a New York State Fishing License. There are three ways to get a fishing license in New York.   You can visit an official License Issuing Agent such as the Town Clerks of Granby, Volney, Minetto, Hannibal, Palermo, Oswego, and Schroeppel or by going to the Granby Walmart or B & T Sport Shop in Fulton.

All persons who intend to get married in New York State must obtain a Marriage License.  In-person Marriage Licenses are issued by appointment only, and couples must arrive on time. Late arrivals may not be admitted.

The fee for this service is $40.  A New York State Marriage License is valid for 60 days (except for active military personnel, for whom the validity runs for 180 days). A Marriage License issued in New York can be used anywhere within New York State but may not be used outside New York State.

Required Information

• The application is an affidavit where you and your prospective spouse must list your name; current address; city, state, ZIP code and country; country of birth; date of birth; name and country of birth of your parents; Social Security number; and marital history.
• When you sign the affidavit, you are making a sworn statement that there are no legal impediments to the marriage.
• If you were married before, you must list all prior marriages. You must include your previous spouse's full name; the date the divorce decree was granted; and the city, state, and country where the divorce was issued.
• All divorces, annulments, and dissolutions must be finalized before you apply for a new Marriage License.
• You may be asked to produce the final divorce decree.
• If your spouse is deceased, you must provide such spouse's full name and date of death.

Parking permits for people with disabilities are issued by the Town Clerk.  You can download the application (or get one from your doctor) and return it to the office.  You must have your photo ID available to file your application.

A permanent disabled parking placard is available for permanently disabled people who live in New York State. Like with permanent plates, the person does not need to be a licensed driver themselves. They also do not need to own a vehicle, because their permanent placard can be used in whatever vehicle they are traveling in at any given time.

Temporary placards are available for people who are temporarily disabled, or who are visiting New York State temporarily from another jurisdiction. Temporary disabled placards in New York are valid for up to six months.

 Please do not drive with your placard hanging from your rearview mirror.  You can be ticketed for this as it is a traffic code violation in NYS.

Please lock your vehicle and have all windows upright when using your placard to park.
